What Is ACH and How Does It Work with LA Pay?

With a Limo Anywhere Pay merchant account, you have the ability to process ACH payments.

ACH stands for Automated Clearing House, which is a centralized network in the United States that facilitates electronic payments and money transfers between banks and credit unions. ACH payments are a cost-effective, secure, and convenient method for operators to accept larger payments, offering lower transaction fees compared to credit cards or wire transfers.

There are strict requirements around ACH, below are some important things to note:

  • ACH account information must be entered/provided directly by the account holder. Operator staff cannot enter this information.
  • Limo Anywhere provides a mechanism for the operator to request ACH details to process a specific payment and/or to save payment information for future transactions.
  • For standing authorizations, operators should have language either in their Terms of Service or direct customer agreement that explains payment terms for ACH payments as the ACH account holder must consent to all ACH related activity.
  • Consent information must be retained by the operator for 2 years. Limo Anywhere automatically saves the user consent (which refers to terms in any customer agreements you may have in place) to meet this requirement.
  • ACH transactions are submitted, but you won’t know if they successfully process until it settles with the clearing house. This process takes 5-7 business days and there is no guarantee of success.
  • ACH payments are ideal for processing large invoices (corporate or retail), or high-ticket rides. If you choose to accept ACH for customers without any history, we suggest taking payment at least 2 weeks in advance of performing work to ensure everything clears. If the ACH is returned, the transaction will be voided and the amount will be outstanding again.
