Rate Groups Explained
Rate Group – A Rate Group defines how various rates relate to each other, and how that rate will be applied to construct the Grand Total, or amount the customer is to pay. The rates in System Rate Manager must be placed into a Rate Group. Rate Groups are defined in Limo Anywhere and cannot be altered. The primary reason Rate Groups are used is allow the percentage rate types calculate off the other fields in a correct manor and to give you an exact calculation.
NOTE: The letters following the Rate Group name indicate if it can be applied as a Fixed(F), Multiplier(M), or Percentage(P).
- Base Rate (F, M): These rates when present in a reservation are added together to create the Base Rate Total. For example a fixed rate to the airport of $100 plus a $20 Waiting Time would result in a $120 Base Rate Total as part of the Grand Total.
- Gratuities (F,M,P): These rates are applied to the Offset Base Rates Total (See Discount 5 definition below). For example a 15% Standard Gratuity applied to a $100 Base Rate Total will result in a $15 Gratuity being part of the Grand Total.
- Taxes (P): These rates are applied to the Offset Base Rates Total (See Discount 5 definition below). For example an 8% Sales Tax applied to a $100 Base Rate Total would result in $8 being part of the Grand Total.
- Miscellaneous (F, M): These rates are applied to the Base Rate Total. For example a Tolls charge of $5.00 would be added to the Base Rate Total and become part of the Grand Total.
- Surcharge 1 (F, M, P): These rates apply to the Offset Base Rates Total (See Discount 5 definition below) plus Gratuity Total, plus Taxes Total plus Miscellaneous Total. For example an airport trip with a Base Rate Total of $100, a Gratuity of $15, Tolls of $5, and Taxes of 8% ($8) that has a Fuel Surcharge (Surcharge1) of 10% applied to it would mean that $12.80 would be part of the Grand Total of $140.80
- Surcharge 2 (F, M, P): These rates apply to the Offset Base Rates Total (See Discount 5 definition below), plus Taxes Total plus Miscellaneous Total. For example an airport trip with a Base Rate Total of $100, a Gratuity of $15 (not included in calculation for Surcharge 2), Tolls of $5, and Taxes of 8% ($8) that has a Fuel Surcharge (Surcharge2) of 10% applied to it would mean that $11.30 would be part of the Grand Total of $139.30
- Surcharge 3 (F, M, P): These rates apply to the Offset Base Rates Total (See Discount 5 definition below). For example an airport trip with a Base Rate Total of $100, a Gratuity of $15, Tolls of $5, and Taxes of 8% ($8) that has a Fuel Surcharge (Surcharge3) of 10% applied to it would mean that $10.00 would be part of the Grand Total of $138.00.
- Surcharge 4(F, M, P): These rates apply to Offset Base Rates Total (See Discount 5 definition below) plus Gratuity Total, plus Taxes Total plus Miscellaneous Total, plus Surcharges 1, 2, and 3 less all Discounts. For example an airport trip with a Base Rate Total of $100, a Gratuity of $15, Tolls of $5, Taxes of 8% ($7.6), and an Airport Surcharge (Surcharge 1) of $5 less a Base Rate discount (Discount 5) of 5% ($5); that has a Fuel Surcharge (Surcharge4) of 10% applied to it would mean that $12.76 would be part of the Grand Total of $140.36
- Surcharge 5 (F, M, P): These rates apply to Offset Base Rates Total (See Discount 5 definition below), plus Taxes Total plus Miscellaneous Total, plus All Surcharges less all Discounts. For example an airport trip with a Base Rate Total of $100, a Gratuity of $15 (not included in calculation for Surcharge 5), Tolls of $5, Taxes of 8% ($7.6), and an Airport Surcharge (Surcharge 1) of $5 less a Base Rate discount (Discount 5) of 5% ($5); that has a Fuel Surcharge (Surcharge5) of 10% applied to it would mean that $11.26 would be part of the Grand Total of $138.86.
- Discount 1 (F, M): This discount applies to the Base Rate Total and are a fixed amount deducted as part of the Grand Total. For example an airport trip with a Base Rate Total of $100 and a $5 Discount 1 would result in a $5 deduction being part of the Grand Total.
- Discount 2 (P): This discount applies to the Offset Base Rates Total (See Discount 5 definition below) and are deducted as part of the Grand Total. For example an airport trip with a Base Rate Total of $100 and a 5% Discount 2 would result in a $5 deduction being part of the Grand Total of $95.00.
- Discount 3 (P): This discount applies to Offset Base Rates Total (See Discount 5 definition below), plus Gratuity Total, plus Taxes Total plus Miscellaneous Total, plus Surcharges 1, 2, and 3 and less Discounts 1, 2, and 4. For example an airport trip with a Base Rate Total of $100, a Gratuity of $15, Tolls of $5, and Taxes of 8% ($8), with a 5% Discount 3 applied would result in a $6.40 deduction included in the Grand Total of $121.60.
- Discount 4 (P): This discount applies to Offset Base Rates Total (See Discount 5 definition below), plus Taxes Total plus Miscellaneous Total, plus Surcharge 1, 2, and 3 and less Discounts 1 and 2. For example an airport trip with a Base Rate Total of $100, a Gratuity of $15 (not included in calculation for Discount 4), Tolls of $5, and Taxes of 8% ($7.2), and a Fuel Surcharge of 10% ($9) with a 5% Discount 4 applied would result in a $5.56 deduction included in the Grand Total of $120.64.
- Discount 5 (F, M, P): This discount applies to Base Rates Total and using this creates a new Offset Base Rates Total that the Gratuity, Taxes, and other Percentage Rates are calculated from. For example if an Airport trip had a Base Rate Total of $100 with a 10% Discount 5 the new Offset Base Rates Total would be $90. Then if a 15% Gratuity ($13.50), and 8% taxes ($7.20) were in effect the Grand Total would be $110.70.
